From 11 to 13 October 2024, members of the UNSAT Lab at Hunan University attended the 2nd Workshop on Future of Machine Learning in Geotechnics and the 5th Machine Learning in Geotechnics Dialogue (2FOMLIG & 5MLIGD) in Chengdu, China.

During the conference, research by Prof. Chao Zhang, Ziheng Geng, and Guodong Wu received the Excellent Abstract Award, with only three teams selected for this distinction. The award-winning work was titled “Integrating multi-source information for intelligent detection of ground properties during earth pressure balanced shield tunnelling.”

During the meeting, Guodong Wu also delivered an academic presentation titled “Vibration-based Classification Charts for Real-time Ground Property Detection during EPB Tunnelling Process,” co-authored with Ziheng Geng and supervised by Prof. Chao Zhang.
